1st. edition. Very good, lacking a dust jacket. A corner of the front endpaper has been cut out, the paper covered boards are worn at the edges, and the spine printing is somewhat dulled and rubbed. Many pages uncut, 1 of 5000 copies. Includes short essa ys on writers who were being published by Knopf in 1925 and 1926, by other writers. For example, H.L. Mencken on Joseph Hergesheimer, Willa Cather on Katherine Mansfield and Frank Swinnerton on Frank Swinnerton. Some of the short essays are on associated subjects, suchas D.H. Lawrence on "Accumulated Mail." Included is "The Borzoi Who's Who,"short biographies of writers on the Borzoi list, and "A Bibliography of Borzoi Books" published through June 30th, 1925. Illustrations are 29 portraits or photograp hs of featured authors. A fascinating snapshot of theKnopf publishing house in the mid-1920's.
